Data minimization
Student experiences should not inherently require home addresses, phone numbers, precise locations, exact birth dates, personal advertising identifiers, or other information unnecessary to the educational service.
Splash Spectrum is being redesigned as an education technology platform. This page describes current product-design principles, not the final production privacy policy.
Student experiences should not inherently require home addresses, phone numbers, precise locations, exact birth dates, personal advertising identifiers, or other information unnecessary to the educational service.
Information collected for classroom use should be used to provide and secure the educational service rather than repurposed for unrelated commercial activity.
The product direction is no behavioral advertising, no sale of student information, no advertising profiles, and no commercial data enrichment of student records.
Institutional deployments should support appropriate export, deletion, retention, user management, and contractual controls.
Schools should be able to understand which service providers process data and for what purpose.
Production systems should use access controls, encryption, logging, secure secrets, tenant isolation, and documented incident-response procedures.
The final production privacy policy should state exactly what information is collected, why it is collected, how it is used, how long it is retained, what subprocessors handle it, and what rights or controls schools, users, and parents/guardians have where applicable.
